Hampi est située dans le Karnataka, état d'Inde du sud. C'est une ancienne cité des rois Vijayanagar, qui compte 400 temples dispersés sur 30km2. Jusqu'au 16ème siècle, elle était réputée pour sa beauté et sa richesse. En 1565, lelle a été détruite et saccagée par des sultans et leurs hommes venus du nord. Les vestiges ont été redécouverts au 19ème siècle. Enfin, en 1987, l'UNESCO l'a inscrite sur sa liste du patrimoine mondial.
Hampi is situated in Karnataka, a state in Southern India. It was built by the Vijayanagar kings in the middle Ages. There are 400 temples scattered on about 20 square miles. The city was known for its beauty and wealth until the 16th century. In 1565, it was destroyed and sacked by warriors from the north of India. The remains of the city were rediscovered in the 19th century. Finally, UNESCO listed it among the most beautiful sites of the world in 1987.
